Hello, I'm Kasuwia, and I'm excited to join you on your journey toward improved mental health and overall wellness. While my name might look a bit intimidating at first, it’s actually quite simple – just think of it like "Joshua" with a "K." 😄
Let me share a little about my background. I was born and raised in Etown and graduated from Elizabethtown High School in 1994. After a year at ECTC, I transferred to the University of Louisville, where I earned three degrees in 2000:
It was during my college years that I was diagnosed with a mental illness. This experience fueled my passion to understand how the mind works and how our environment shapes our thoughts, interactions, and reactions.
Growing up, I was surrounded by family members who dedicated their careers to community service. My mother worked with at-risk youth at the Department of Justice and later in the foster care system. She currently works as a therapist, inspiring me in my own journey. My aunts worked at Hardin County Community Action and KIPDA, assisting individuals with housing, community resources, and support for the elderly and disabled. This upbringing instilled in me a deep commitment to helping others.
My career has been shaped by a passion for helping others, and I’ve had the opportunity to work with diverse populations. I’ve worked with young boys in a psychiatric residential treatment facility and families at risk of child removal. My experience also includes in-home case management, addressing challenges like employment, budgeting, behavior management, and parenting. I’ve also served as a case manager and Foster Care Coordinator, assessing potential foster parents.
Life has taken me on various detours, but I’ve always found my way back to serving others. I’m thrilled to be working with both adults and children in my current role at Total Wellness Center. My goal is to reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness and provide compassionate, knowledgeable support to those seeking mental wellness.
At Total Wellness Center, you’ll find a dedicated team of professionals committed to providing comprehensive and compassionate care. We're here to support you on your journey toward mental well-being and a fulfilling life. I look forward to working with you.
“Your life is reflecting to you exactly who you are each and every day. Every choice, action, and reaction is who you are until you choose to make a change. I am a work in progress, but I am actually making the progress that I need to evolve into the person I am destined to become.”
